His parents’ names are Joyce Helen (mother) and Leonard Anthony Sajdak (father). Pat’s father died when he was young, and his mother remarried.

While attending Columbia College Chicago, Sajak’s broadcasting instructor told him that the local radio station WEDC was looking for a news anchor. He applied as a radio personality and ended up landing at the station’s 6 am time slot. Sajak also worked as a front desk clerk at the Palmer House hotel during his college studies. He rendered his services in the U.S. Army as a DJ for the American Forces Vietnam Network during the Vietnam War.

Pat was offered a job hosting a radio show when he was in college. However, the hours were strenuous, lasting from midnight until 6 am. So, Pat Sajak made it work, hosting at night and attending class during the day. It was here that he realized his love for entertaining people and journalism.

However, in 1968, Pat Sajak joined the US Army, but he continued to host a local radio show called “An Officer and a Movie.” But Sajak’s time in the military was short-lived after a controversy surrounding when he cut off the “Christmas Day Broadcast” by President Nixon, which was for Army personnel stationed in Vietnam.

His popularity increased and he was offered a voiceover Job at NBC’s ‘Today’s Show, which later changed into anchoring. ‘KNBC-TV’ hired him as a weatherman in the late 70s. In 1981, the management of the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ asked Pat to host the show. He hosted the show for the daytime and evening version for the next six years. Sajak appeared in the 1982 comedy film Airline II: The Sequel. His role was as a Buffalo New York newscaster. 

Sajak appeared many times on Super Password as a guest host, as well as Password Plus, from 1984 to 1989. Pat even hosted a late-night talk show aptly titled “The Pat Sajak Show” from 1989 through 1990. He also guest-hosted on game shows Dream House and Just Men.

In 2003, Sajak hosted Pat Sajak Weekend on Fox News and The Pat Sajak Baseball Hour, a syndicated radio sports talk show. Sajak became an investor in 2005 in the Golden Baseball League, an independent professional baseball league.

He has also hosted ‘Larry King Live’ ‘Dream House’ and ‘Just Men.’ In 2007, Pat came up with his own designed puzzle game ‘Lucky Letters’. He is also the author of several puzzle games, the most well-known being 2007’s Lucky Letters.
