Tim was raised with his five other siblings. His father Gerald M. Dick was a real estate agent, but he died in a car accident when Timothy was only 11 years old. After 2 years, Tim’s mother Martha Katherine married again. She brought her children with her to live with her new husband in Michigan. His mother’s new husband already had three children. So, the family contained a total of nine children.

Tim attended high school and was quickly involved in drama and theater. Allen also became a musician after learning how to play the piano. Tim Allen later excelled in the entertainment industry. He didn’t pursue acting during his post-secondary education. 

Tim attended Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University. Radio and television production was Allen’s primary focus at university.
